Two of these photographs were taken in the first days of my marriage. The third was taken on a very dark October morning, about a year ago, at the mouth of a river in Skagit County. All three were juried into the 2026 Woodinville Arts Alliance Sip & Stroll Art Walk , the Alliance's juried members' exhibition at The Winemakers Reserve. There's art, wine, live music and an awards ceremony on opening night. I'll be there. Come find me. The pieces Yukon 2026 . The day after our wedding, Michelle and I were driving through the Yukon and stopped along the shore of Tutshi Lake. From the roadside you couldn't see the view. A band of scrub brush hid it. We were pretty sure something special was on the other side. We didn't have a drone, so we improvised. We mounted the camera on a fifteen-foot painter's pole. Michelle held the pole and rotated it while I framed the shot remotely. It's a true collaboration: lake, forest and mountain, shaped by geological forces over thousands of years. It's also the best use of a painter's pole in our household to date. Mirror 2026 . Mirror Lake in Misty Fjords National Monument earns its name. On calm days the water gets so smooth that floatplane pilots can have trouble judging their altitude as they land. The dock serves one of only a handful of private cabins built before the monument was created in 1978. Michelle and I flew in from Ketchikan on our honeymoon. It's one of the most remote and peaceful places in Alaska. Wreck 2025 . This one is closer to home. It was an extremely dark late October morning near the mouth of the Samish River, outside Edison, Washington. I was drawn to the long-abandoned wreck of a wooden boat. Nobody knows anymore who owned it or where it went. Its owners and journeys are lost to time. A quick note on how I work, since people ask. Light, exposure and masking are fair game. Adding or removing things is not. No cloning, no erasing. If it was in the frame, it stays in the frame. That sounds like a small rule. It isn't. When and where The Winemakers Reserve , 15902 Woodinville-Redmond Rd NE, Suite D, Woodinville, WA 98072. Admission is free. Friday, November 13, 5 to 8 PM: Sip & Stroll opening. All three pieces are for sale during the show, and all three are in the online store: If you're also out in Edmonds this month, Deception 2026 is still hanging in "Perspectives" at Graphite Arts Center through November 28. Two shows, one month. I'm grateful to both. Thank you to the Woodinville Arts Alliance and the Sip & Stroll Committee for putting this together, and to The Winemakers Reserve for opening their doors (and their bottles). See you on the 13th.
